Alex used to wake up to an alarm in a cramped Auckland apartment, commute through traffic, and spend the day staring at screens. “After another rainy winter stuck indoors, I realised I was missing the adventures New Zealand has to offer,” Alex recalls. “I wanted to freedom camp in the Coromandel, explore the Catlins, and work remotely without being chained to powered sites.”

Freedom Payoff: “The best moment was waking up alone on a beach near the East Cape, brewing coffee with the power station, and realising I could stay as long as I wanted.”
